Servo Motor Horn
1. Servo Motor Horn Setup¶
In this step, we will prepare the two servo motor horns used for the Robot Dog's front and back leg. Each servo motor must be fitted with a servo horn in the correct center position before assembling the front and back legs.
Use two identical sets of the parts shown below to create two servo horn assemblies.
Parts Required¶

Step-by-Step Instructions¶
1. Identify the Servo Motor Parts¶
Take one servo motor set and identify the following:
- Servo motor
- Servo horn
- Small screw for fixing the horn
- Two screws for fixing the servo onto the icecream stick
- Ice cream stick
Repeat the same for the second servo motor set.
2. Place the Servo Horn on the Shaft¶
Fit the servo horn on top of the servo motor shaft. Align it as shown in the assembly video.
Make sure:
- The horn sits properly on the servo shaft.
- The horn is not tilted.
- The horn is aligned before tightening the screw.
3. Fix the Horn Using the Small Screw¶
Insert the small screw into the center of the horn and tighten it gently.
Do not over-tighten the screw. Tighten only enough so that the horn does not come loose during movement.
4. Repeat for the Second Servo Motor¶
Use the second servo motor set and repeat the same process.
At the end of this step, you should have:
- One servo motor with horn fixed for the front leg mechanism.
- One servo motor with horn fixed for the back leg mechanism.
Final Check¶
Before moving to the next assembly step, check the following:

Common Mistakes to Avoid¶
| Mistake | How to Avoid It |

| Fixing the horn before centering the servo | First calibrate the servo to initial position as explained in the brain controller section, then attach the horn. |
| Over-tightening the screw | Tighten gently until the horn is secure. |
| Forcing the servo shaft by hand | Use the program provided in brain controller section to initialize the servo position. |
